March 2025 update — EOIs open for training and peer supervision
In this month’s update, we’re pleased to be sharing some exciting resources and activities that are coming online.
Over the last couple of months, we’ve been working closely with our guiding coalition and busily organising the activities that have come about as a result of the regional forum we held back in October 2024.
A mix of opportunities are available for the Lived Experience workforce working in suicide prevention in Central and Eastern Sydney to get involved in over the next few months — these include funded peer supervision, funded training for peer workers in the Open Dialogue approach, and other opportunities for learning and collaboration.
EOIs open for funded peer supervision
If you work in a Lived Experience workforce role in suicide prevention in the Central and Eastern Sydney region, we’re inviting you to express your interest in participating in a pilot program of funded peer supervision.
Peer supervision will be available for you through a highly skilled and experienced provider, with both 1:1 and group approaches.
All activities are funded, meaning there is no cost to you or your workplace. And you’ll also be remunerated for your particiaption in peer supervision activities if you’re not salaried or otherwise being paid by your employer while accessing supervision.
Express your interest in participating before EOIs close on Wednesday 2 April 2025 by clicking here.
We’ve also developed a Peer Workforce Supervision Background Paper, that offers a summary of contemporary peer supervision principles and practices.
EOIs open for funded Open Dialogue training
Open Dialogue is a person-centred, compassionate and relational approach to working with people experiencing distress and crisis that offers an alternative to the biomedical way of understanding and responding to these experiences.
Through SPLEWDI, we are partnering with the Open Dialogue Centre to deliver a 4-day course ‘Introduction to Open Dialogue’ for peer workers in the Central and Eastern Sydney region who are currently working in suicide prevention.
All training is funded, and any non-salaried participants will be remunerated for their participation.
The training consists of a virtual orientation session, followed by two x two-day sessions held a month apart, with some post-training reflective sessions to happen later on.
Express your interest in participating in this training opportunity before EOIs close at midnight on Monday 7 April 2025 by clicking here.
Upcoming learning and collaboration events
Over the next couple of months, we’ll be hosting a number of conversations for people working in the suicide prevention Lived Experience workforce to come together, share their insights, and learn from each other. These conversations will be hosted by members of our guiding Coalition for SPLEWDI and other leaders in this space.
Head over to our Events page to see what’s happening, and check back as we will be adding more events as they are confirmed.
With SPLEWDI formally coming to an end in June 2025, we’re planning to host a bigger, face-to-face event in late June, where we bring together both the SP LE workforce as well as managers, colleagues and supporters who work alongside them. Stay tuned for more details about this event, but we hope to see you there!.
Lastly, a big thank you to the members of our guiding Coalition for all their expert contributions to guiding and overseeing the development of the SPLEWDI Action Plan and these activities.
If you have any questions for us, feedback about SPLEWDI or would like to get involved, please get in touch via email to info@beaconstrategies.com.au.
